Companionship & social support

A friendly face, good conversation and a hand with getting out and about — companionship and social support that keeps life sociable and eases the isolation that so often creeps in at home.

What companionship involves

Company that brightens the whole week

Companionship and social support are about connection as much as practical help. A carer who genuinely enjoys your company — sharing a cup of tea, a story, a walk, a hobby — can lift the whole mood of a week.

We match you with someone who suits you, and keep them consistent, so a real relationship has the chance to grow. Along the way they keep a quiet eye on how you’re doing, and let the family know if anything changes.

A proper connection

Conversation, laughter and shared interests with someone who genuinely enjoys your company.

Out and about

Walks, the shops, a café, a club or an appointment — accompanied and unhurried.

Doing what you love

Hobbies, gardening, music, photographs — the things that make a day yours.

A watchful eye

Gentle reassurance that someone is checking in and will flag anything that changes.

Is it right for you?

Signs company would help

  • Days pass with very little conversation or contact with others.
  • Hobbies, clubs or outings have quietly fallen away.
  • A partner or friend who provided company is no longer around.
  • Mood, appetite or motivation seem lower than they used to be.
  • The family worry about isolation but can’t always be there.

Questions

The things families usually ask

Anything we haven’t covered, just call — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Will it be the same companion each time?

Yes wherever we can — we match you thoughtfully and keep them consistent, because the relationship is the whole point.

Can they take Mum out, not just visit?

Absolutely — walks, the shops, cafés, appointments or clubs. Getting out is often the best part of the visit.

What if they don’t hit it off?

Just tell us — we’ll happily introduce someone else until the match feels right.

Can companionship include a bit of practical help?

Of course — meals, errands and light tasks often go hand in hand with the company.
